The Cultural Prize of DV for Gallery D project
Yesterday Wednesday march 10, Reykjavik Art Museum received the Cultural Prize of DV for its exhibition series in Gallery D. The series started in February 2007 and is now presenting its 16th project with photographer Katrín Elvarsdóttir. The director of the project is Yean Fee Quay curator and head of exhibition department of Reykjavik Art Museum. Reykjavik Art Museum would like to use the opportunity to thank the artists themselves for their commitment and dedication. They have all created work specifically for gallery D and worked hard to make the most of the opportunity.

The Attendance record broken!
The attendance record at Reykjavik Art Museum was broken last year when the number of museum visitors for the first time exceeded two hundred thousand, with the overall number of visitors in 2009 reaching a total of two hundred and twenty thousand. This amounts to a 20% increase between 2008 and 2009, after access to the Museum had been given free on January 1st, 2008. The attendance rate has increased steadily in recent years, and the period between January 1st 2007 until the end of 2009 shows an increase of 65%. There has also been an enormous increase in organized school visits and guests at organized family events, which amounted to 33% between 2008 and 2009.

Design Competition based on the works of Ásmundur Sveinsson
Kraum-design shop, Reykjavik Art Museum, and The Icelandic Design Center have organized an open competition to design a product based on works or ideas by the Icelandic sculptor Ásmundur Sveinsson.
