Kjarvalsstaðir – FRUM contemporary music festival
Frum is an annual contemporary music festival aiming at introducing masterpieces of contemporary music literature in collaboration with Reykjavik Art Museum. Musicians are Kristjana Helgadóttir alt- and bass-flute player and Ingólfur Vilhjálmsson clarinet and bassclarinet player.

Multi-lingual tour through Reykjavik, wherelocal cultural life is introduced in Spanish, Polish, English, Thai and Lithuanian. The starting point is at Grófarhús, Tryggvagata 15.

Reykjavik Art Museum in collaboration with the Living Art Museum leads a tour on the history of alternative and artist-run spaces in Reykjavik.

Viðey Island – Art Walk
Heiðar Kári Rannversson leads a guided tour through the island, focusing on the art works The Imagine Peace Tower by Yoko Ono and Áfangar / Standing Stone - Nine Locations - Two elevations by Richard Serra. Boat leaves from Skarfabakki at 6:15 and 7:15 p.m. and goes back at around 10 p.m.

Hafnarhús & Kjarvalsstaðir - UNM – Music Innovation
Iceland is the host for the annual Ung Nordisk Musik festival that will be held in Reykjavik. Reykjavik Art Museum is the festival’s collaborator participating in work-shop and concerts at Hafnarhús and Kjarvalsstaðir. The festival’s focus is to show the possibilities of new instruments to young composers and professional musicians to increase their usage in compositions and performances.

Wednesday 29 August 3-6 p.m.
Hafnarhús – UNM Workshop
Open workshop with the participation of five composers who will in collaboration with Icelandic musical instrument innovators, explore the boundaries and possible usage of new instruments. Collectively they will develop an improvisational piece that will be performed on Friday.

Thursday 30 August 5-7 p.m.
Kjarvalsstaðir – Possibilities in Museum Education
The Educational Department at Reykjavik Art Museum introduces possibilities in education for the upcoming winter. The event is free and open to all.

Friday 31 August 3-6 p.m.
Hafnarhús – UNM Workshop
The open UNM workshop from Wednesday will be continued.

Friday 31 August 8 p.m.
Hafnarhús – UNM & Fringe Berry Concert
Participating composers of the UNM workshop performs their final showpiece. Also to be played is a new string quartet by Viktor Orri Árnason and other works for prepared instruments as chairs, music-stands, lights and chocolate.

Saturday 1 September 4 p.m.
Kjarvalsstaðir – UNM & Elektra Ensemble Concert
At this chamber concert works by Petter Ekman (IS), Sebastian Ingvarsson (SE), Martin Stauning (DK) and Øyvind Mæland (NO) will be played. The concert is a part of three series concerts taking place at the same day.
