The works of Iceland’s most beloved painter, Jóhannes S. Kjarval, will cover all walls from floor to ceiling in the eastern exhibition hall at Kjarvalsstadir in an exhibition opening on Saturday, January 10th at 2 pm. This salon style exhibition will display the Museum’s Kjarval collection in its entirety, counting 3.348 works: 3189 drawings and 159 paintings. The opening reception is informal, where the museum’s director will invite guests to a guided tour explaining the concept of a collection and how to preserve it.
