Design for an apocalyptic era. Hafnarhús, Thursday 28 October 8 p.m.
Design and innovation studio Apokalyps Labotek ALT are presenting a lecture titled “Design for an apocalyptic era” as a part of the Iceland Design Center lecture series on October 28th at 8pm in Hafnarhús lecture hall at the Reykjavik Art Museum.
The lecture is focused on sustainable design and the reuse of raw materials as well as ALT processes and product development. Labotek ///ALT/// is a design and innovation studio based in Malmö, Sweden.
Labotek ALT have received numerous awards over the past decade and recently the international "Terre de Femme Award" and "Wallpaper Design Awards 2010" for best recycling design with the project ‘The Parquet’, a parquet made of several of the 250 million tires that are discarded in Europe each year.
The founders of ALT are Petra Lilja and Jenny Nordberg both industrial designers working with sustainable design, environmental issues, consumption and communication.
The lecture is a collaboration between Iceland Design Center, Reykjavik Art Museum, Iceland Academy of the Arts and Aurora Design Fund and is part of Ting - Nordic festival in Reykjavik October 28th - November 7th.
