Kvikar Myndir hátið / Moving Pictures Festival.Kinosmiðja in partnership with Reykjavik Art Museum 21-24 October

Spiders in love

Avant garde history, art films, poetic flashes, brilliantly coloured ruminations.  Kvikar Myndir hátið traces the history of the experimental and avant-garde filmmaking movement from the 1960s to the present.  The selected works and filmmakers have all inspired, and sometimes shocked, the film audience of its time with innnovative techniques and trend setting visions of what is possible.
Every last filmmaker screened has been the recipient of  prestigious awards, their films have screened in museums and festivals around the world.  More interestingly- they have created the steadfast and ongoing tradition of experimentation with 16mm film.  From Bruce Conner who is credited as the father of music video, to Stan Brackages hand-painted films, and Abigail childs feminist revisions… there is an element of significance in every work presented!
All fims will be screened on 16mm film with courtesy of Canyon Cinema and generous support from the American Embassy."
