Design spin - The sphere of design. Hafnarhús, Thursday 20th of October at 8 p.m.

Hildigunnur Sverrisdóttir, architect reflects on the sphere of design, the tools of the designer and its relevance in todays society.

Is the web of knowledge spun by design? Can one speak of designers as a class? What do they have in common and what sets them apart? What specific means do they have on their hands for the society that they´re bound to be participating in - how has their role within societies evolved? These questions will likely not be answered sufficiently in the lecture, but will most definately be addressed!

Hildigunnur is an architect and visiting lecturer at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts. She works in an environment sometimes categorized as crossdisciplinary, regarded by herself as appropriate and obvious. Amongst other things she has worked as a facilitator in Prisma diploma studies of the Iceland Academy of the Arts and The University of Bifröst along with more conventional work at the architects studio.
