Reykjavik Museum Night, February 10th. 2012

Reykjavik Art Museum offers a diverse program at Hafnarhús, Kjarvalsstaðir and Ásmundarsafn for Reykjavik Museum Night 2011, that will take place on Friday, February 10th from 7. p.m. - 12. p.m. (midnight). The program is free and open to everyone.

In relation to the Reykjavik Museum night, entrance to all RAM locations will be free for ages up to 25, on Saturday 11th of February.

19:00-24:00 Amazing Darkness - Crystallized Light - Alexander Zaklynsky, AuxPan & Leó Stefánsson.
Light and sound installation by artists Alexander Zaklynsky, AuxPan & Leó Stefánsson. The project is sponsored by GAMMA and LED.is and will be exhibited in Brno House of Arts, Czech Republic in April 2012 as a part of the REMAKE project.

20:00 – 20:30 NO! said the little monster
Book reading by Áslaug Jónsdóttir in Icelandic.

21:00 – 21:30 Museum Belt
AlmaDís Kristinsdóttir, introduces the Museum Belt for families with children. The Museum Belt offers a unique learning opportunities in informal educational settings through play.

19:00 – 24:00 WORKSHOP - Architecture and time travel
An open and informative art workshop for families was set up in connection with the exhibitions Snøhetta - Architecture, landscape, interior, and “My dreamland in the North“ - Karen Agnete Þórarinsson, presently in the West Wing. Snøhetta is a Norwegian architect firm located in Oslo and New York. Karen Agnete was a painter and the Danish wife of painter Sveinn Þórarinsson. She left the sophisticated bourgeoisie of Copenhagen and moved to Iceland and into a turf house. The characteristics of Icelandic architecture are for instance found in turf houses, houses clad with corrugated iron, and later concrete buildings.

Workshop and introduction to traditional daily wear of Icelandic women in olden days with members of The Society of Hand and Homecrafts of Iceland.

21:00 – 22:00 Accordion music performed by Skotthúfurnar.

22:00 – 23:00 Architecture- Snøhetta & Kjarvalsstaðir
Hugrún Þorsteinsdóttir arcitect leads a tour in Icelandic through the Snøhetta exhibition and the building of Kjarvalsstaðir.

Gallery Talk with artist Magnús Árnason and biologist, Dr. Guðmundur Eggertsson.

22:00 – 23:00 White Signal
White Signal performs a few selected songs. Members are Guðrún Ólafsdóttir, Katrín Helga Ólafsdóttir, Sólrún Mjöll Kjartansdóttir, Brynjar Guðlaugsson and Snorri Örn Arnarson.
