Invention of landscape – Workshop for kids (9 years+), Hafnarhús, Sunday 24 February, 2-4 p.m.
Reykjavik Art Museum- Hafnarhús offers a creative workshop for kids (9 years+) in relation to the Robert Smithson´s exhibition Invention of Landscape: Broken Circle/Spiral Hill.
The workshop is led by architect Hugrún Þorsteinsdóttir and visual artist Ásdís Spanó.
Smithson´s work Broken Circle/Spiral Hill was created in Emmen, Holland in 1971. The project followed Smithson’s iconic earthwork Spiral Jetty (1970). The exhibition, currently on view at Hafnarhús, offers an insight into almost every artistic medium that Smithson used. Including drawings, photographs, letters, and films that document the process of planning and constructing his earthwork. During workshop participants will explore Smithson´s works and ideas through discussions and sketching and create their own invented landscapes in sand.
The workshop takes place in Icelandic and is open to everyone.
