Curator´s talk with Ólafur Kvaran, Kjarvalsstaðir - Icelandic Art 1900-1950, Sunday 9 June, 3 p.m.
Art historian and curator Ólafur Kvaran leads a guided tour through the exhibition Icelandic Art 1900-1950: From Landscape to Abstract Art.
The exhibition gives an overview of Icelandic art from 1900-1950. It brings about 200 paintings from 40 artists from the period that come from both public and private collections. The exhibition focuses on four subjects: Romantic and Radical 1900-1930, Landscape 1930-1950, The Human Scale 1930-1950 and New radicalism and the beginning of the abstract 1940–1950.
The talk takes place in Icelandic. Guided tours in English are offered every Friday at 11 a.m. in June, July and August.
