Viðey – Relighting the IMAGINE PEACE TOWER, Wednesday 9 October 6 - 10.15 p.m.

As previous years, the Imagine Peace Tower by Yoko Ono will be re-lit durring a peaceful ceremony on 9 October, John Lennon’s day of birth. Free boat rides to Viðey Island will be available and everyone can attend the ceremony. Musician Pétur Ben plays ambient music at Viðeyjarnaust and the choir Kammerkór Suðurlands will sing for guests by the Imagine Peace Tower. Yoko Ono’s Wish Tree will be placed at Viðeyjarnaust and Viðeyjarstofa where guests can leave their wishes. Light refreshments and warm drinks will be available both at Viðeyjarstofa and by Viðeyjarnaust.

The program starts at 7 p.m. and the ferry will sail between Skarfabakki pier and Viðey Island from 6 - 7.45 p.m. In addition, free public transport will be available from Hlemmur bus station to and from Skarfabakki pier every 20 minutes, from 6.40 - 7.40 p.m.
After the ceremony, the first ferry departs from Viðey Island at 9 p.m. and public transport will run until 10.30 p.m.

From Thursday 10 October the Imagine Peace Tower tours will begin operations and continue every evening until 8 December. For more information on the tours visit www.videy.com.
