Kjarvalsstaðir – Jaðarber Concert Series: For John Cage (1982) by Morton Feldman, Wednesday 27 November 8 p.m.
Jonh Cage and Morton Feldman
Violinist Una Sveinbjarnardóttir and pianist Tinna Þorsteinsdóttir will perform Morton Feldman’s work For John Cage (1982) on 27 November at Kjarvalsstaðir.
Feldman (1926-1987) wrote the work in the final phase of his career. The work is typical for this period, a long work of almost 70 minutes. Here Feldman explores his lifelong experimentation on the “stasis” of sound and its relationship to the greatest stasis or silence.
Una Sveinbjarnardóttir is the concertmaster of Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra and performs with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and Tinna Þorsteinsdóttir works as a freelance pianist.
The Jaðarber concert series is held in close cooperation with Reykjavík Art Museum. The series is a venue that celebrates experiments in terms of how music is created and how it is performed.
The concert starts at 8 p.m. and admission is free.
