The Christmas Creatures in Reykjavík Art Museum-Hafnarhús

All Christmas Creatures of Reykjavík City will be located in Reykjavík Art Museum- Hafnarhús in December. The theme of the Christmas in Reykjavík project is based on the Christmas Creatures. The Creatures are an important factor in introducing the specialty of Icelandic Christmas in the capital city of Iceland in a new and unusual way for its inhabitants and visitors alike.

An important aim of the project is to praise traditional Icelandic folk lore and connect the people in the city, the locals and visitors, through story-telling and discussions about this interesting heritage and creatures. Another aim is to create an impressive and entertaining Christmas experience in the city in a simple yet effective way.

The hunt for the Christmas Creatures
The hunt for the Christmas Creatures will start on 5 December but it is an amusing family game. Eleven Christmas Creatures have found their dwelling in various places in the city centre. The game is set up as a treasure hunt. The participants are supposed to find the Christmas Creatures and answer a few easy questions. Register your name, e-mail and phone number on the card and return it to the Tourist Information Center in Adalstraeti or send it by mail before 19 December.  You can find the treasure hunt game in the Tourist Information Center in Aðalstraeti,  in the museums of Reykjavík  or several shops in the Reykjavík city centre during Advent.
Hafsteinn Júlíusson is the designer of the concept. Gunnar Karlsson draws the pictures. Bragi Valdimar Skúlason is the author of the text.
