The General Collection

After the opening of Kjarvalsstadir in 1973 the city began systematically collecting artworks by Icelandic artists. For the purpose of buying artworks the Cultural committee of the city has a special yearly budget. Today the general art collection consists mostly of works by Icelandic artists.
